Tomorrow I fly up to Sitka, Alaska to be with a fun group of doll makers. We'll be making my Asian doll - LiMei. Then next month I'll be at Annie Hesse's Magic Mischief and Mayhem where we'll create Xuiying. Yes. Another Asian doll.
Her "lantern" is made from wire covered with fabric and Kreinik threads and silk cocoons dangle from the end. I know everyone will love creating her. http://www.anniedolls.com
In May I'll be in the central coast of California with another terrific group of doll makers. We'll be working from my books creating a unique doll by combining several body parts.
To see larger pictures of the two dolls click on them. The doll to the left combines body parts from Creative Cloth Doll Making and Creative Cloth Doll Faces.
June 3-6 I'll be at the North Carolina Quilt Symposium teaching 3 different classes. I love going to quilt symposiums and am always excited when they want a doll maker.
Again, I've got that Asian bug and will be teaching my Japanese Ladies in Waiting page, which can also become a quilt block.
I love working with paints on fabric. I'll be showing how to use Lumiere paints and Pearl EX powders to create shadows and highlights.
The 2nd class I'll be teaching is my Facing Faces. I've added Shiva/Markal Paintstiks to the mediums used in creating faces on dolls, and/or quilt blocks, wearables, etc.
In the class we use colored pencils, water color pencils along with the paint sticks.
If you don't know what the paint sticks are they look like a fat crayon. They are similar to oil paints, but with no mess. I love them and they are brilliant on fabric.
The 3rd class I'll be teaching at the symposium is from my new book "Creative Cloth Explorations". I love this project. Actually, I love them all, but this one is truly fun and includes heaps of techniques.

Hope to see you there.
Love your dolls. They inspire me.
