Heidi's adventures

It has been awhile since I've updated Heidi's information. She's teaching 5th grade at the International School Brussels. Yes, that is Brussels, Belgium. Many of you know she's been teaching in Europe for the past 6 years. First in Stavanger, Norway; then St. Germaine en Laye, France (near Paris) and now Brussels.

Belgium has beautiful scenery and so much history. Heidi is getting ready for a 9 day hike in Corsica so recently did an overnight hike in the south western mountains of Belgium. Beautiful area.

Someday I'll find the photo of Heidi standing on a very scary rock in Norway. I'm glad they don't have such places in Belgium!

Upcoming Events

elinor peace bailey, Barbara Willis and I are gearing up for our Flat Day on the Silly Side of the Sea in Ohio. We'll be at the Creative Festival June 28-30 in Cincinnati. All three of us are teaching classes, too.
What is the Flat Day on the Silly Side of the Sea? A fun demonstration and lecture from the 3 of us, plus Karen Shifton and Judy Skeel. Generally, we have Sally Lampi and Betts Vidal with us, but they had other commitments. Karen and Judy will join us in Ohio.
On top of the lecture and demonstration each person who attends gets a pattern from us. That means 5 patterns. Here's a picture of my Flat doll, which is really a fabric journal:

ArtGirlz and NYC

Earlier I shared a fun pin doll I made using ArtGirlz rubber stamps and charms. I simply can't quit making them. Here's 3 more I made today. When I should have been working on my quilt.

A little over a week ago I was in New York City. I was teaching workshops at The City Quilter and at the Manhattan Doll Guild. I stayed with Ben and Carol Mitchell and walked from their place in Greenwich Village to The City Quilter. Each day I could walk a different way. At Madison Square there's amazing sculptures. I fell in love with the metal trees.

New York City is such an inspiring city. I can't wait to go back next month. I may have to make a few more visits on a regular basis. Besides the art work everywhere Carol introduced me to their fabric district. Oh, my! One day simply was not enough. We went to Tinsel Trading, M&J Trimmings, New York Beads, York Beads, Phoenix Beads, B&J Fabrics and heaps of places in between. It is very easy to move around as most of the shops are between 36th and 38th Streets and 5th and 7th Avenues. I'll be going back in June. I'm teaching workshops in New Jersey and Connecticut, but arriving a day early so I can go to the fabric district and to a quilt show. Life is good!

Creative Beading Cruise

We now have 3 of the classes represented for the Feb. 19 cruise. Dorice has created a beautiful mask that any doll sized 16 to 20-inches could wear. But, it doesn't have to go on a doll. Masks can be placed on a vest, quilt, wall hanging, picture frame, etc.
